About

At Hamline University in a Fundamentals of Journalism class, students were given the task to create a group writing project around a central theme. The topic requirements were that the focus had to be local, and that it needed to be covered within a two week period. Our topic, Women of Science was thought of by all contributors and was separated into subjects of: women of science at Hamline University, women alumni pursuing a career in science, Science Technology Art Math (STEAM) in elementary education, and science all all girl universities.

Our commitment is: One, to our citizens and readers. We want to give fact based, information that accurately depicts the reality of being a woman in science. Science affects everyone and having women in the field is critical to scientific progress. Two, We as Journalists must maintain independence from those we cover. This we accomplished by each covering a story in which we were removed from the people we were speaking to, as well as the content which we covered. We put our assumptions aside to give the most accurate portrayal of women in science as possible.
